CBE is in need of dedicated members of the congregation to take on a leadership role on our Board of Directors.
No prior experience is required. Mentorship for all positions will be provided by former Board Members as needed.

Open Positions
Executive VP
Responsibilities:

Assume President’s duties when President is unavailable (including chairing meetings, speaking at events, etc.)

Oversee general maintenance of Temple facilities

Oversee arrangements for use of the facilities (i.e., setup/cleanup before and after events, assuring responsible use by renters, etc.)

VP of Fundraising
Responsibilities:

Oversee all fundraising activities and events; initiate fundraising campaigns and plan fundraising events

Serve on Communications Committee

Submit all funds raised with proper accounting of income and expenses

Prepare and provide financial reports as requested by the Board of Directors

VP of Programs
Responsibilities:

Initiate, plan, and chair programs for the Congregation

Other Positions
President
Requirements:
-
Must be Jewish
-
Must have been a Temple member in good standing for a minimum of two consecutive years immediately preceding the election

Must have served on the Board in any position in the year immediately preceding the election
Responsibilities:
-
Convene and preside over monthly Board meetings (currently taking place on Zoom), as well as meetings of the general membership, etc. as needed
-
Act as co-signatory (along with the Treasurer) on all checks issued and other approved financial agreements made, and serve as a member of the Financial Committee
-
Represent (or delegate someone to represent) the congregation and the Board at all events, both within CBE and in the wider community, helping to create a positive impression of who we are
-
Contribute a letter to each issue of the quarterly Chai-Lites newsletter, and provide other written communications to the congregation and affiliates as needed

Speak at events as appropriate

Remain on the Board as Past President for one year, to advise new President and ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities

Advocate for the parents and students of the Religious School

Establish and maintain policies and procedures of the Religious School, in conjunction with the School Administrator and Rabbi

Responsibilities:

Record and maintain records (minutes) of all business meetings conducted by the Board of Directors and the general membership

Distribute said minutes no later than 7 days after the meeting

Notify the general membership in writing of all meetings of the general membership at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled meeting

Maintain a copy of the current Bylaws and transmit all necessary reports to local, state, and federal agencies when modifications to these Bylaws are affected
