Monthly Mitzvah Project

November: Stockings for Seniors

The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce's Senior Services Alliance, in collaboration with the Senior Center and Meals On Wheels Program, is collecting items to fill 300 stockings for the Simi Valley senior community. Stockings will be delivered in December's Meals On Wheels deliveries. These stockings will brighten the lives of seniors that are homebound and will help make them feel valued. Below is a list of welcomed and needed items.

  • Toiletries

  • Tote bags for walkers

  • Gloves (fingerless or convertible mitten style)

  • Assortments of greeting cards

  • Scarves

  • Flashlights/batteries

  • 4X magnifying glasses

  • Throw blankets

  • Nightlights

  • Coffee mugs

  • Lip balms

  • Gift cards

  • Herbal tea variety packs

  • Bath and body lotions

  • Single-serving or sample coffee packets

  • Slipper socks

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Massagers

  • Jar lid openers

  • Long-handled back scratchers

  • Dark chocolate

  • Word search/sudoku game books

  • Sugar-free treats

  • Coloring books & colored pencils

  • Single-serving packs of crackers or cookies

  • Large-print playing cards

  • Single-serving packs of mixed nuts or dried fruit

  • Eyeglass holders

  • Miniature craft kits
