Join us for a Shabbat morning service, followed by lunch and a presentation by a leading ophthalmologist, "What the Eye Sees: A Journey through Vision and Perception”.

- 10:00 am - 11:30 am: Shabbat morning service with Rabbi Michele and Cantorial Soloist Suzanne Mahler
- 11:30 am - 12:30 pm: Persian lunch
- 12:30pm - 1:30 pm: Presentation by Dr. Houman Hemmati, “What the Eye Sees: A Journey through Vision and Perception”
Details:
Dr. Houman Hemmati is a prominent ophthalmologist and adjunct professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Hemmati will explore how vision works, and how the mind processes visual information. He will connect this with insights from Jewish texts on the importance of vision and perception. Additionally, he will share his own family’s personal anecdotes as Iranian Jews in the Middle East, and their immigration to the United States as political refugees.
